I just realized it's been SIX MONTHS since I've touched my blog... I owe you guys a HUGE apology! Sigh...
I'm going to be honest with you.... I went back to work. Yep...it happened! Things got slow, things started to happen, and I went back to what I knew instead of putting my hands to the plow and forging ahead! What did it lead to? My comeback...
I've been home for about two weeks now and I'm having to get back into the swing of a lot. I've missed birthdays, family occasions, kids' milestones -- all of that! Two of my kids weren't even talking to me! That's when I knew that I had to block time out, get back to business, and get back to my family.
Being the Comeback Kid isn't easy because those who have been looking for you may have moved on. Some have even gone so far as to give up on you. Be thankful for those who have waited for you to come back around, I know I am! Let me tell you what happened.
I walked back into my Toastmasters Club meeting after being gone for two months. Every single member of my club hugged me, told me they missed me and welcomed me back. They also told me not to do it again, but that's another story. As I took the podium as the Toastmaster of the day, I felt like I was home again. It was a wonderful feeling to be around adults again after battling 23 kindergarteners for six weeks!
So, what makes a good comeback? I'll tell you:
- Have goals, a plan of action, and purpose -- know who, what, when, where, why, how, and how much right from the jump.
- Be ready to reintroduce yourself to key people, places, and things -- you're going to have to reestablish your credibility and reputation.
- Have something ready to share -- a webinar, video or audio series, a book or digital product, etc to let people know that you are ready to roll!
- Attend the first event that comes up that resonates with your niche -- people need to see your face in the place!
The more you are able to show when you hit the waves again, the more apt people are to open themselves back up to receive you! LET'S GO!
